Mary Shelly's classic Frankenstein, which is also known as The Modern Prometheus, is an 1818 novel written by Mary Shelley. Its the story of Victor Frankenstein, a young scientist who follows an unusual scientific experiment to create a sapient being. Shelley was only 18 years old when she started writing the story. It was published two years later.

The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow

T

his classic American short story by Washington Irving was first published in 1820. The story takes place in the Dutch settlement of Sleepy Hollow, New York, and centers around the superstitious schoolmaster Ichabod Crane who competes with local hero Brom Bones for the hand of Katrina Van Tassel. Crane is terrorized by the legendary Headless Horseman, who is a ghost of a Hessian soldier searching for his lost head.

Irving combines comedy, horror, and folklore in The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow, culminating in Ichabod's mysterious disappearance after a particularly frightening encounter with the spectral rider.
